Aaron Cantwell was a swim teacher and lifeguard in Aura Leisure Navan. Aaron sadly passed away last year and his family honoured his wishes to donate his organs.
Colleagues and members in Navan remember Aaron’s big smiley face and his kind nature. Aaron’s mum Naomi has created a character to honour Aaron’s memory. He’s ‘Ducky’, a little blue duck with a big smile and even bigger heart. You can follow him on Instagram and Facebook @duckydeed.
Aaron’s family is hosting a swim relay race ‘Gift of Life – Ducky Deed Derby’ in association with the Irish Kidney Association,to remember Aaron Cantwell and acknowledge his kind act of Organ Donation. The Derby is taking place in Aura Navan but all members over 18 are able to apply and the prize of one year’s family membership is in your local Aura Leisure Centre.
We would love if you, your family and friends would apply to swim in the Derby race and, if you can’t could you please share the event details with your friends and family.
OPEN TO Everyone over the age of 18
PRE TIMED QUALIFIER SWIM
⭐️ 8-14th May 2023
⭐️ Ducky Deed will contact you to arrange your time slot
⭐️ The 30 fastest swimmers will qualify to race in the Derby
OUT OF PRACTICE???
⭐️ We’re giving 5 free swim passes to each approved applicant, to practice at their local Aura leisure Centre
⭐️ Your application will be confirmed by email from duckydeed@gmail.com
THE DERBY
⭐️ Will take place on Sunday 21st May 2023 at Aura Leisure Navan. We have limited seating so only; entrants and their families can attend
TEAMS
⭐️ Teams will be created on the day of the Derby
⭐️ Teams will also include; an Organ Recipient and a Member of a Deceased Donor Family
RELAY RACE
⭐️ Each team member swims 4 lengths (100m) of the pool and swims another 4 lengths (100m) after the participant in front of them has finished their 1st 4 lengths
PRIZE
One year’s family membership in your local Aura Leisure Centre for each participant of the winning team. This is non-transferable and no cash alternative is available.
