Covid-19 FAQ’s

Do I have to present a Covid Pass to access your facilities?

No, a Covid Pass is NO LONGER REQUIRED to access our centres.


    What services are currently available?

    Most of our services have resumed with some restrictions at some facilities. Check with your local Aura Leisure Centre for up to date information on the services available.

    Indoor fitness classes and Aqua Aerobics have resumed.

    Saunas, Steam Rooms and Spa Pools are available at most Aura Leisure Centres. Contact your local centre for more details.

    Gym changing rooms are open and showers are available too.


    Are there any changes to the Aura Swim Academy?

    Each of our centres have adopted new procedures to minimise the number of people in the changing village at any one time including smaller class sizes, staggered class times and one-way systems. To see what’s different at your local Aura Leisure check out our videos here.

    Lack of adequate ventilation has been identified as a key factor in the spread of Covid-19. Have Aura Leisure centres got adequate ventilation in place?

    Yes. We have ventilation in all areas of our Leisure centres that bring in 100% fresh air and extract stale air.

    Our gyms and pool halls have an average 10 air changes per hour. So that means every hour the volume of air in the zone is changed 10 times. There are carbon filters in our ventilation systems that filter the air from outside and also the air extracting. Our air ventilation system is much more effective than regular air conditioning units you will find in other buildings which don’t provide fresh filtered air.


    Do I need to book in advance to use the gym or swimming pool?

    No, you no longer need to book in advance.


    Is Pay As You Go available?

    Yes, Pay As You Go options are available for our swimming pools and gyms. Contact your local Aura Leisure for details of pricing and availability.



    Can Covid-19 be spread in a swimming pool?

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have stated there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Furthermore, the HSE advise that current recommended disinfection practice is sufficient to inactivate COVID-19 virus in chlorinated drinking water and swimming pools. Aura swimming pools operate at levels above this recommended practice meaning our chlorinated water is safe.


    Are hairdryers available for use?

    Yes but check with your local Aura Leisure Centre.


    Are sports halls and pitches open?

    Please contact your local Aura Leisure centre for more details.


    What precautions will I need to take when attending the swimming pool or gym?

    We will be asking all customers to adhere to new health and safety operational guidelines. Details can be found here. Please ensure you read this carefully. This page will be updated regularly.


    Do I have to wear a face-covering?

    Yes, in line with Government regulations customers entering our facility must wear a face covering. This also applies to the viewing area in our swimming pools. Face coverings can be removed while swimming or exercising.

    Following Government advice, children under 12 are exempt from wearing a face covering. Persons with medical considerations as provided by the public health guidance are also exempt from wearing a face covering.
