When will Aura Leisure centres be re-opening?
It is our intention, that our facilities will re-open in line with the Government’s Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business. Click Here to view. Our teams are working hard to ensure that Aura Leisure centres will have evidence-based and industry-leading safety procedures in place once our pools, gyms and fitness facilities re-open including social distancing measures, hand sanitising stations, rigorous cleaning regimes and comprehensive training for all staff. Once we have finalised our re-opening plan we will issue an update to our members in relation to our health and safety guidelines and operating procedures for our gyms and swimming pools.
What services will be available at Aura Leisure centres upon re-opening?
In line with the Government Roadmap, our swimming pools are likely to open first in Phase 4 followed by our gyms in Phase 5. Due to social distancing restrictions, and for the safety of both our staff and customers, restrictions on occupancy will apply to all areas. Following the advice of experts, our health suites and spas will remain closed until further notice. It will be too difficult to ensure social distancing in these areas.
What about my membership?
Memberships including short-term are currently frozen and will recommence once we open.
When will swimming lessons resume?
Lessons will return as soon as it is safe to do so. While it is safe to swim in chlorinated pools, it is anticipated based on current consultation that social distancing restrictions will be necessary in the pool environment and occupancy measures will be implemented. A strategy is currently being developed to guide facilities in the safe running of swimming lessons.
What about Term 2 of Swim Academy?
All swim lessons at Aura Leisure centres remain suspended and the current swimming term lessons will be resumed as soon as it is safe to do so. We will be in touch with Swim Academy parents and guardians once the restart date has been confirmed.
Can Covid-19 be spread in a swimming pool?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have stated there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Furthermore, the HSE advise that current recommended disinfection practice is sufficient to inactivate COVID-19 virus in chlorinated drinking water and swimming pools. Aura swimming pools operate at levels above this recommended practice meaning our chlorinated water is safe.
When will fitness classes resume?
Fitness classes will recommence as soon as it is safe to do so, with additional safety measures in place including hygiene, social distancing, equipment usage and occupancy restrictions.
What about your sports halls and pitches?
All activities are suspended until further notice.
What precautions will I need to take when attending the swimming pool or gym?
Practice social distancing and hand hygiene. You should not attend the swimming pool or gym if you are sick or showing symptoms. When entering and exiting the premises you must use the hand sanitiser station provided. Additional sanitising units will be available throughout the centre and should be used after each activity and/or interaction. You will need to wipe down any equipment directly after use. You should remain at least 2 meters away from all other individuals while working out and ensure not to congregate in groups. Follow the advice of our staff at all times.
