Swim Lough Rynn 2019
The Aura Leitrim crew had big fish to fry recently at a unique open water swimming race on Leitrim’s very own open water laned multi-sport facility.
Held last Sunday at the Lough Rynn Recreational facility in Mohill, Co. Leitrim, this year’s swim once again attracted a quality field from all over Ireland with over 150 swimmers taking to the start line for the 3 different races.
Newtownforbes man Ciarán Madden won both the men’s 750m and 4km races while Orlaith McLoughlin, also from Longford, won the ladies’ 750m and 1.6km races. Elaine Lally from Lanesboro was a dominant winner of the ladies 4km race.
Flat calm water meant ideal conditions for racing, along with the recent spell of warm weather which brought the water temperature up to a pleasant 20 degrees.
Aura Leisure Ireland were the main sponsors of the event and were there in force to support on the day. Lifeguards Órla and Deirbhile were stationed out on the Lough and facilitated in starting, ending and processing the statistics about races. Kate greeted swimmers on poolside after their long stint in the water. Shannon engaged with the bystanders in our new Aura gazebo, some of whom even bagged themselves family swim and gym passes.
All in all, a great day out was had by us all here in Aura Leitrim. We are already looking forward to Swim Lough Rynn 2020.
