The International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS) is delighted to bring you ‘Active Places: Building a Sustainable Future’, a two-day conference taking place in Dublin at the beginning of October.

Day one features an exclusive tour of the Sport Ireland campus, where the low-carbon, active-landscape sports masterplan design will be presented alongside insight from the operator’s perspective. Continuing the campus narrative, TU Dublin will discuss sport and wellbeing in university environments.

Day two will take place at the world-class Aviva Stadium and will include a stadium tour. Expert speakers from Dublin City Council, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), and the Danish Foundation for Culture and Sports among others will discuss and debate pressing industry topics. This is an excellent opportunity to hear industry leaders’ innovative strategies for low-carbon design and the decarbonisation of existing sports buildings, as well as solutions for future-oriented leisure spaces and inclusive approaches to boost community participation in sports.

A great networking event, this seminar will be of value to public and private operators, designers, policymakers and sports organisations looking to hear solutions for the future of sport.

Speakers will include the likes of Brian MacNeice who is the Senior Managing Director within the Sports Advisory & Consulting practice at Teneo Ireland, is a strategic advisor to business and sports organisations in Ireland and internationally.

As well as Brian there will be a talk from Ola Mattsson, who is a development consultant with the Danish Foundation for Culture and Sport Facilities Team Sports, bringing over ten years of experience in leading successful projects for government agencies, municipalities, and sports clubs.
