Aura Recognised as a Leader in Employee Health and Wellbeing for Second Year Running

Aura Holohan Group is delighted to announce we have been recognised once again as one of the 2025 Best Workplaces™ for Health & Wellbeing.

The Best Workplaces™ for Health & Wellbeing recognition aims to acknowledge organisations that prioritise creating positive and supportive workplaces for all employees, encouraging them to bring their whole selves to work and to balance their work and professional lives.

Through these key statements, they found data proving these organisations are leading the way in this space – 84% of employees at the Best Workplaces for Health & Wellbeing feel they are encouraged to balance their work life and their personal life, while 92% agree they are able to take time off from work when they feel it is necessary. 82% of employees also agreed that their organisation was a psychologically and emotionally healthy place to work. By setting this standard, these organisations are paving the way for healthier, more supportive workplaces.

Our Vision at Aura is to create ‘A Healthier and Happier Ireland’ and our Purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities through exercise, sport and active lifestyles.

Narcisa Popovici, HR Director at Aura Holohan Group said: “At Aura, employee health and wellbeing is embedded in our culture, values and our inclusive practices. By prioritising employee wellbeing, we are striving to create a positive and dynamic workplace where people feel supported, connected and inspired to contribute their best.”

Aura runs a host of initiatives to help our employees have the best workplace experience possible as through our Wellfit strategy which means ach employee enjoys a free membership to their local Aura leisure centre, while a friend or family member can also join for free, a comprehensive employee assistance programme also offers a range of services, while employee mental health is prioritised.

Narcisa also explained the importance of prioritising mental health for Aura “In order to support employees’ mental health in a practical way, they can avail of a day off paid if they are going through a particularly difficult time. Aura also partners with a range of different organisations to provide training and advice for managers and employees to help them to be more aware of mental health challenges and issues and create a supportive environment that works to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health issues”.

Meanwhile, CEO of Great Place to Work Ireland, Cathal Divilly underlined the importance of workplaces putting these elements front and centre of their priorities “When organisations truly prioritise health and wellbeing, it’s a game-changer — not just for employees, but for the business as a whole. A workplace where people feel supported and can bring their best selves to work naturally leads to higher engagement, better performance, and a stronger culture. The organisations being recognised as the Best Workplaces for Health & Wellbeing 2025 understand this. They’re leading the way in creating environments where wellbeing isn’t just a perk — it’s part of how they do business.”

As part of the process of achieving this fantastic award our Membership Advisor from Aura Leitrim, Cathy Fitzgerald, gave her views on what makes Aura’s policies effective “I have been working with Aura for over 9 years and one of the main reasons I love to work here, other than enjoying the sales role, is the real sense of ‘team’ support that is in place here. Working at Aura is more than just a job for me, it’s my few hours away from the stresses of home life, of being a mum to two beautiful autistic children and being a wife; it’s something for me”.

Our Lovely Membership Advisor in Aura Leitrim, Cathy!

She continued “I think it’s fair to say everyone has their own daily struggles in life and what makes a great workplace for me is the support I receive from not only my colleagues and managers, but also the workplace wellbeing benefits that are accessible to everyone, such as free access to the facilities, Friends and Family Benefit and EAP.”

We’d like to thank Cathy for sharing her views and we are delighted to be having a positive impact on our employee’s wellbeing.

While it is a great honour for Aura to be recognised for our work in this area, we committed to constantly providing our staff with the best resources possible to maintain positive health and wellbeing as they help build a healthier, happier Ireland.
