Aura Dundalk is delighted to announce that their new, state of the art swimming pool changing village has been reopened.
The new fully refurbished changing village includes the installation of new disabled changing areas, family-friendly changing cubicles, non-slip safety tiles, group changing areas, while all areas will be more accessible with specifically designed lockers for wheelchair users.
The official launch was hosted in Aura Dundalk on Tuesday May 7th with Minister for Sport, Physical Education, and the Gaeltacht, Thomas Byrne in attendance to cut the ribbon.
Speaking on the newly developed changing facility Minister Thomas Byrne said, “ I do want to congratulate everybody from Louth County Council, the contractors, the local authority members as well, who put forward the Council budget on an annual basis and I want to acknowledge the Chairperson of the Local Authority and those representatives in attendance here today. Swimming is a very important sport and really important to our national physical health. We are about to launch a National Swimming Strategy, so it is good to see these works taking place in Dundalk”.
Also in attendance were members of the Louth County Council, including Councillor Paula Butterly (Louth County Council Cathaoirleach), Joan Martin (Louth County Council Chief Executive), Councillor Conor Keelan, Councillor Joe McGuinness, Aura Holohan Group Executive Chairman Gar Holohan, along with members of the Aura Dundalk swimming community.
Aura Holohan Group Executive Chairman Gar Holohan went on to thank all involved and hopes the facilities will set the standards for changing villages across the country going forward, “Thankfully Working together with Louth Council in Drogheda and Dundalk for many years we’ve got to a place which is an example to the rest of the country. Our amazing team here at Aura Dundalk are ranked in the Top Best Workplaces in Ireland for the last 5 years which is a huge credit to the team here, working to deliver services to the local community to compliment the high standard of the facility provided by Louth County Council”.
