Sharon’s Fit For Life Journey
“Every story has a beginning. Here’s mine”-Sharon Healy
As a Membership Advisor here at Aura Leisure based in Youghal, I plug our Fit For Life Program to potential members all the time. I speak highly of its benefits and promote each of its stages and what it has to offer every day.
Today is a little bit different. Today, I’ve decided to take part on this program myself.
Why? Well, firstly, I’d like to be able to experience what I’m selling and to give first hand insight as to what it involves. But mostly, I want to do this for myself. I want to share with you my journey and prove to people that everybody wants better for themselves and not to judge any book by its cover.
At a first glance, people look at me and see a small, thin figure. I regularly get comments like “I’d love to be like you – you’re so skinny” or “You never have to worry about your weight”, but body hang-ups, I certainly have.
Being too thin, in my opinion, is just as frustrating as being overweight. Believe it or not, I have difficulties getting clothes to fit me. You’re likely to find me in the “Kiddies Department” rooting for an outfit! Clothes hang wrong on my frame and I feel like a hanger in the wardrobe with the clothes hanging off me!
I am seriously body conscious and as a result, have quite low confidence in myself. Looking in the mirror is something I find very difficult as, like so many others, I’m not happy with what’s looking back at me. People also assume that because your slim, you definitely must be fit! WRONG – Fit is something I really am not! Being Fit is something I always wanted to be. Being a working mother, I find many excuses not to get fit. However, most days, I feel tired and sluggish. My eating pattern is all over the place and I lack the energy that I should have. In my job, I see people every day on their fitness journey. People that are confident in their abilities and in their skin. People that speak confidently of the energy they feel after a workout or how good they feel after attending the gym. This is something I need in my life.
Am I nervous about this journey? Am I scared? Of course I am, but with the staff here in Aura, I know for sure I will be in good hands. I think to myself, the fittest of people have stood in my shoes, everybody has to start somewhere!
First step – to get myself booked in. I approached Corey, one of our gym instructors here and explained what I wanted to do. He booked me straight in and my appointment for Fit for Life was made. No turning back now!
Fit for Life is a proven exercise starter plan that is designed to help you get to a healthier place. It consists of five different stages. First stage – Fitness Profile and Consultation!
This is where my journey will begin and I hope to guide you through each step so that you can all see what exactly is involved. I will keep you all posted on what goes on with my program!
Wish me luck! – Sharon
