FALL INTO FITNESS with AURA LEISURE

Fall can be a very challenging time of year for most people. Cooler evenings and darker mornings make it hard to avoid the warmth and comfort of inactivity. The conditions can be unappealing at times and sitting in front of the fire watching X-Factor sounds so much better than any sort of exercise.

Moreover, we tend to fall off the wagon with nutrition this time of year, by nourishing our bodies with unhealthy food that fills us with warmth and temporary comfort. Chicken and broccoli just don’t seem to cut it.

However, it’s time to avoid temptation and tackle the darkness. Hats, gloves, running tights and your perfectly named ‘You can do it’ playlist on Spotify are all you will need for this chilly battle this fall.

Embrace the darkness

What I find most challenging when this time of year rolls around is avoiding the snooze button in the mornings, and or admitting to myself the bed is simply too warm to leave. I agree more than anyone that it can be pretty miserable waking up to a dark, cold morning, if you decide to look at it that way. What I hope to make you realise, is the fact that if you decide to wake up that bit earlier, then you will give yourself an advantage going into your day. You will soon realise there is more hours in a 24-hour day than you had previously thought.

Others will still be asleep, or they may be deciding to press that snooze button. By waking up early you give yourself an opportunity to get things done. If your reading this you may think it’s crazy to suggest, but there is something oddly satisfying knowing that while you’re in the gym for 7am, or waking up early to get a head start on work on a cold dark morning, others are still in bed sleeping.

Essentially, you can have a head start on the rest of the world.

October can also be the perfect time to reflect on your year so far. Have you reached the goals you set out to achieve at the start of the year? If the answer is no, do not panic.
